About us
What we do
CSS focuses purely on Block Discounting audits mainly in the asset finance sector but also in the bridging loans arena. We
conduct regular training of all our team and also staff from outside of the business who are looking to expand their horizons.
We operate all over the UK to conduct in person audits complemented by remote (desktop) audits. We always call by
appointment and offer a friendly but business like service to our clients’ customers.
All our work is confidential and our clients (the Blockers) all have non-disclosure agreements in place with CSS. Block
discounting audits are very thorough as they aim to ensure the Blockers’ funds are in safe hands. We evidence receipt of HP /
Lease / Loan repayments from the Blockees’ end users, an audit task aimed at minimising fraud.
Other audit tasks are conducted including checking suppliers’ invoices for both accuracy and timely payment. Pre Facility
audits is another avenue in which we specialise. These are in-depth in person audits which seek to confirm the adequacy of
controls within the business of the prospective Blockee who is applying for credit.
Audit checks range from: Credit control; Collections efficiency; KYC and AML procedures; Fraud prevention measures; Pay-out
controls; and Marketing policies. If you would like to discuss our services in greater detail, please contact us. We would be
happy to have a chat to explain exactly what we do and to provide you with our latest rates.

Training
Enhancing Knowledge and Skills
CSS is committed to maintaining the highest standards of
professional knowledge and practice among its own and clients’
staff. To support this aim, CSS conducts periodic training sessions
that are designed to enhance awareness and competencies in key
areas critical to your operations. These remote sessions last for
approximately 2 hours each and cover a variety of essential topics.
Training Session Overview
CSS's training sessions are well planned and executed to ensure
maximum engagement and knowledge retention. By leveraging
remote technology, the sessions provide flexibility and convenience
for your staff, enabling them to participate from any location. Each
session is led by Keith Harrison (MD) who brings a wealth of
knowledge and practical insights to the table.
The training sessions encompass a range of crucial subjects, each
tailored to address the specific needs and challenges of our
industry. The primary topics include:
Key Topics Covered
Fraud Awareness
Fraud awareness is a cornerstone of our training program. The
sessions aim to educate participants about the various types of
fraud that can occur within the financial sector, including identity
theft and cyber fraud. Through real-world examples and case
studies, staff members learn to recognize red flags and implement
preventive measures to safeguard against fraudulent activities.
KYC/AML
Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
regulations are critical components of our compliance framework.
The training covers the importance of thorough customer
verification processes and the identification of suspicious
activities. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the
regulatory requirements and best practices for maintaining
compliance, thereby reducing the risk of financial crimes.
R/P Calculation
The Replacement Paper (R/P) calculation is an essential
component of the audit process. Our training sessions provide
detailed guidance on the methodologies and calculations involved
in R/P analysis. By mastering this skill, staff members can make
more informed decisions that allow the Blocker to properly plan
and prepare.
Market Conditions
CSS reviews both global and UK market conditions/ factors that influence a Blocker’s thinking about its credit decision making process. This includes a segment on why banks do not currently offer Block Discounting and an overview of Basel III regulations.
Auditor Insights
Understanding what auditors look for during evaluations is crucial for maintaining transparency and accountability. This part of the training offers valuable insights into the auditing process, including the key areas of focus and common issues that auditors encounter. By familiarizing themselves with these aspects, your staff members can ensure that their practices align with the highest standards of audit readiness.
Benefits of Training
The training sessions offered by CSS yield numerous benefits for both its clients
and its employees. Some of the key advantages include:
Enhanced Skills Participants acquire new skills and knowledge that are directly
applicable to their roles, enhancing their overall competence and performance.
Regulatory Compliance By staying up to date with the latest regulations and
best practices, staff members help the Blocker maintain compliance with
industry standards, thereby reducing legal risks.
Fraud Prevention Increased awareness of fraud schemes and preventive
measures contributes to a more secure operational environment, protecting
both the Blocker and its customers.
Risk Management Improved understanding of R/P calculations enables staff to
make balanced decisions that optimize cash flow.
Audit Readiness Insights into auditor expectations ensure that the organization
is well-prepared for evaluations, fostering a culture of transparency and
accountability.
Professional Development Ongoing training supports the continuous
professional development of staff members, enhancing their career prospects
and job satisfaction.
Conclusion
CSS's commitment to periodic training underscores our
dedication to excellence and continuous improvement.
By investing in the development of our staff and clients’
staff, we strengthen our ability to navigate the
complexities of the financial sector with confidence and
integrity. These training sessions not only enhance
individual capabilities but also contribute to the overall
success and resilience of your organization.
